The Effects of Credit Enhancement on Bond Pricing

內(nèi)容摘要：Over 25% of credit bonds in China received improved ratings at issuance, among which 96.6% used credit enhancement. We find that credit enhancement can effectively lower credit spreads, which still holds after a battery of robustness tests. We employ the propensity score matching method, the instrumental variable approach and firm-year fixed effects to address endogeneity concerns. The risk-reduction and the loss-sharing mechanisms are empirically identified and meanwhile the information-production and the liquidity-improvement channels are excluded. Our results suggest that credit enhancement usage provides a market solution for low-rated firms to issue high-rated bonds and lower the cost of debt financing.

高昊宇博士, 中國(guó)人民大學(xué)副教授, 漢青經(jīng)濟(jì)與金融高級(jí)研究院金融系系主任, 中國(guó)人民大學(xué)“杰出學(xué)者”青年學(xué)者, 第5屆中國(guó)科協(xié)“青年人才托舉工程”入選人. 研究興趣集中在公司金融, 金融市場(chǎng)中介, 中國(guó)資本市場(chǎng), 綠色金融, 銀行與風(fēng)險(xiǎn)管理等方面. 學(xué)術(shù)成果已經(jīng)發(fā)表或接受發(fā)表在Review of Financial Studies(RFS), Journal of Financial Economics(JFE), Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis(JFQA), Journal of Financial Services Research(JFSR),《金融研究》,《中國(guó)管理科學(xué)》與《系統(tǒng)科學(xué)與數(shù)學(xué)》等國(guó)內(nèi)外主流金融學(xué)和管理學(xué)期刊. 另有論文在《經(jīng)濟(jì)研究》, 《管理科學(xué)學(xué)報(bào)》等雜志返修中. 他的論文還曾獲得12屆亞太金融市場(chǎng)年會(huì)（2017, 首爾）和31屆亞洲金融學(xué)年會(huì)（2018, 東京）最佳論文獎(jiǎng)。他的學(xué)術(shù)兼職有金融科技教育與研究50人論壇青年成員, 中國(guó)運(yùn)籌學(xué)會(huì)金融工程與金融風(fēng)險(xiǎn)管理分會(huì)理事, 中國(guó)優(yōu)選法統(tǒng)籌法與經(jīng)濟(jì)數(shù)學(xué)研究會(huì)量化金融與保險(xiǎn)分會(huì)理事，美國(guó)金融學(xué)會(huì)會(huì)員和中國(guó)系統(tǒng)工程學(xué)會(huì)會(huì)員等。此外，他主持一項(xiàng)國(guó)家自然科學(xué)基金項(xiàng)目，參與多項(xiàng)國(guó)家自然科學(xué)基金重點(diǎn)項(xiàng)目，曾受邀參加廣西壯族自治區(qū)發(fā)改委和地方金融監(jiān)管局、中國(guó)銀保監(jiān)會(huì)、國(guó)家開(kāi)發(fā)銀行、中國(guó)銀行、東方資產(chǎn)管理公司等合作課題項(xiàng)目。
